Our COP 15 Activities

The global solar power industry came together as one unified voice to make the case for solar energy as a simple, practical solution for a reduced-carbon present and future. (to see the list of 40+ associations from across the globe, please click here)

Scientific consensus is nearly unanimous that the earth’s environment is heating up. This “global warming” is causing significant and potentially damaging changes to climate around the world.

The evidence points to emissions of “greenhouse gases” such as CO2 as the major cause of climate change. Large amounts of these gases come from use of fossil fuels for transport and electricity generation. Solar power depends on an infinite resource – the sun – and its proven technology is virtually carbon-neutral and ready for use NOW. Solar energy can meet the world’s growing energy needs, especially in developing countries situated in the Sun Belt.

Solar industry at COP 15

World leaders met at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen 7-18 December to grapple with the issue of CO2 reduction to stop global warming before it causes irreversible damage. We wanted them to know that solar power is key to CO2 reduction now and in the future. We organised a number of events, with an information booth and our team of solar technology experts available to answer any questions from the public.

Solar power – more energy, less CO2. It’s that simple.
